BurJuman Diwali 2026 is called Khushiyon Se Bhari Diwali, Hindi for “a Diwali filled with happiness”, and it turns the Bur Dubai mall into a month-long festival hub with free craft workshops, Friday music evenings, a Saturday talent competition and a festive bazaar. The programme runs between 14 October and 12 November 2026, every evening between 5pm and 9pm, with the final week falling around Diwali itself on Sunday 8 November.
A different evening each day of the week
Rather than one big weekend, BurJuman spreads its Diwali programme across the week, with each day given its own focus. Most activities take place on Level 1, Lobby B, so it is easy to find the festival area once you are inside.
Monday to Thursday: free craft workshops
Weekday evenings are for making things. Free sessions run between 5pm and 9pm and cover four traditional Diwali crafts:
- Lantern making: the paper and fabric lanterns, or kandils, hung outside homes during the festival
- Toran crafting: the decorative door hangings that welcome guests and good fortune
- Mandala art: circular, symmetrical patterns that sit close to the rangoli tradition
- Indian calligraphy: decorative lettering, a good fit for writing Diwali greetings by hand
These are the most child-friendly part of the programme, and a toran or lantern made at the mall is a practical piece of decoration to take home in time for the festival.
Fridays: the musical baithaks
A baithak is an intimate, seated music gathering, traditionally held in a home rather than a concert hall. BurJuman’s Musical Showcase brings the format to the mall on Friday evenings between 6pm and 9pm. The sessions ran on 16, 23 and 30 October, and the final one is on Friday 6 November, two days before Diwali.
The format is a recent addition: BurJuman introduced baithaks for the first time during its 2025 Diwali festival, Jhilmil Diwali, and has brought them back for this edition.
Saturdays: the Diwali Talent Competition
Saturday evenings belong to the BurJuman Diwali Talent Competition, which is open to performers of all ages and runs between 6pm and 9pm. Heats took place on 17, 24 and 31 October, and the last show is on Saturday 7 November, when finalists compete for a share of BurJuman Mall gift cards. Even if you are not performing, it is a lively, free show to watch.
Sundays: roaming entertainment
On Sundays the programme moves out of Lobby B and around the mall, with roaming entertainment in place of a fixed stage. The official schedule lists it as a separate Sunday format, so expect performers on the move rather than seated shows.
Bazaar and giveaway
Alongside the free activities, the campaign includes a festive Diwali bazaar and a giveaway with a JETOUR T1 car up for grabs. Entry terms and the draw date are set by BurJuman, so check them at the mall’s customer service desk or on its official channels if you plan to take part.
BurJuman Diwali in the wider city
BurJuman has a long record of marking the festival, from Sone Ki Diwali with the jeweller Tanishq in 2023 to last year’s Jhilmil Diwali, which ran from late September into October 2025. This year’s edition starts later and stretches right up to the festival itself, overlapping with Dubai’s citywide Diwali celebrations, which run 2 to 12 November.
The mall’s location helps. BurJuman sits in Bur Dubai, not far from Meena Bazaar, the district’s best-known street for Indian clothes, jewellery and sweets. BurJuman Metro station, an interchange between the Red and Green lines, connects directly to the mall, so you can reach it without a car.
Who it suits
The weekday workshops suit families with school-age children, while the Friday baithaks are better for adults who want a quieter, musical evening. The Saturday competition is the one to choose if you have friends or relatives performing. Everything listed on the official programme is free to attend.
