The Young Maestro Easter Family Concert 2027 in Dubai brings the music of Vivaldi, Bach and Handel to the Meyana Theatre at Jumeirah Beach Hotel on Easter Sunday morning, 28 March 2027. Part of the Young Maestro Sunday Morning Family Series, it introduces children to classical music through storytelling, with the story of spring told between each piece.
The concert starts at 11am, doors open 30 minutes earlier, and it runs for about 45 minutes with no interval: a length designed for young attention spans.
The idea behind the concert
The organisers frame the morning around a simple, memorable thought. Three composers were writing at the same moment in history, in three different countries. Vivaldi wrote music you can see: birds, a storm, a sleeping dog. Bach wrote melodies that four strings can hold like a single breath. Handel wrote for kings, and for fireworks. Together, they made the sound of a season changing.
Children hear all three in one morning, with a narrator guiding them through what to listen for, so even those who have never been to a concert can follow from the first note. The performance is in English and is recommended for ages five and up.
The programme
- Vivaldi: extracts from The Four Seasons. Probably the most famous Baroque music ever written, with violins imitating birdsong in Spring and a summer storm breaking through the strings.
- Bach: Air on the G String, from Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major. A slow, calm melody many children will recognise from films and adverts.
- Bach: Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, first movement, arranged for quartet. Busy, bright and full of energy, with all four players passing ideas back and forth.
- Handel: “Lascia ch’io pianga”, arranged for quartet. Originally an aria from his opera Rinaldo, it is one of his most tender tunes.
- Handel: “La Réjouissance” from Music for the Royal Fireworks, written for a royal celebration in London and full of festive spirit.
- Pachelbel: Canon in D, the famous piece built on a repeating bass line, a gentle way to close the morning.
To help younger children feel at home on the day, try playing the opening of Spring from The Four Seasons at home beforehand. Hearing a tune they already know makes it easier to spot when the quartet starts to play it live.
Meet the Baldaquin Ensemble
The music is performed by the Baldaquin Ensemble, a string quartet whose members have collected prizes at competitions across Europe and beyond:
- Petr Gladysh, cello: a three-time prizewinner at the Karl Davydov International Competition and winner of the Paolo Serrao European Music Competition in Italy.
- Anna Larionova-Gladysh, viola: an award-winner at the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition, the Rovere d’Oro Prize and the Tadini International Music Competition in Italy.
- Sergei Belozertsev, violin: a laureate of the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition and the Mario Fillioley Competition in Italy.
- Daria Kuchenova, violin: a prizewinner at the Beethoven Competition in the Czech Republic and the Musahodzhaeva International Competition.
Seeing four players up close is a good way for children to understand how a quartet works: two violins, a viola and a cello, each with its own voice.
Who it suits
This is ideal for families with children aged five and over, especially those starting music lessons or curious about orchestral instruments. The short running time and story format also suit parents who want a gentle introduction to classical music themselves. Every attendee needs a ticket, whatever their age, so babies and toddlers also need one if they come along. The Young Maestro series also runs other Sunday morning concerts at the same venue.
