Bisou Bisou Brunch is a French Riviera-themed Saturday party brunch at Tête-à-Tête, high up on Level 9 of FIVE LUXE JBR in Dubai, where a South of France sharing menu meets live singers, dancers and a room that gets louder as the afternoon goes on. Its own tagline sums it up: this is not just brunch, chérie, it is a rendezvous.

The idea is glamour with a wink. You start with something close to a chic lunch on the Côte d’Azur, and by the end of the afternoon the lights have dimmed and the brunch has become a full-blown celebration.

The setting: Tête-à-Tête on Level 9

A big part of the draw is the room itself. Tête-à-Tête has glamorous, sun-drenched interiors, with a lavender ceiling, a jewellery box-inspired bar and an open kitchen, so you can watch the food come together. Outside, the terraces look out over the Arabian Sea, with Ain Dubai, the Dubai Eye, in the distance on Bluewaters Island.

Harper’s Bazaar Arabia describes the concept as Monte Carlo-themed with a Riviera feel, and the design leans into that fully: it feels more like an elegant private party than a hotel restaurant.

What is on the menu

Head Chef Daniel Welna leads a three-course sharing menu inspired by the flavours of the South of France. The dishes named on the current listing give a good idea of the style:

• A large, flaky croissant, which has become something of a Bisou Bisou signature
• Creamy risotto
• Rib eye
• An airy cheese soufflé

Reviewers also mention pommes frites on the table, and What’s On describes the welcome as a French champagne moment before the courses arrive. Because it is a sharing menu, it works best with a group, and the format keeps the table social rather than formal.

The entertainment

Bisou Bisou is very much a party brunch. A live singer and dancers perform throughout, with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia also mentioning live piano, and as the afternoon unfolds the vibe shifts from chic brunch to celebration, with DJs joining in. What’s On calls it stylish, energetic and made for Instagram, which is a fair summary of the room by 4pm.

If you are not ready to go home when brunch wraps up, the Paradiso Dubai after-party picks up from 5pm, so the afternoon can roll straight into the evening.

Bisou Bisou has also run an evening edition, Bisou Bisou After Dark, which is listed separately on Platinumlist, so night owls who prefer their French glamour after sunset have an alternative to the Saturday afternoon sitting.

Getting to FIVE LUXE JBR

FIVE LUXE is a 222-room hotel on The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence, close to JBR Beach, with a regular line-up of DJs and musicians across the property; its other regular nights include Wet Cherry, the Wednesday ladies’ day by the pools. Valet parking is available at the hotel. From Downtown Dubai or DIFC, it is around 15 to 25 minutes by car along Sheikh Zayed Road (E11); take the JBR exit and follow signs to The Walk. By public transport, take the Metro Red Line to DMCC or DAMAC Properties, change to the Dubai Tram towards Al Sufouh and get off at JBR1, which is a five to ten-minute walk from the hotel.
