Brunchtopia Family Brunch is a Saturday afternoon brunch at Creek Kitchen in Marriott Marquis Dubai Creek, designed so the whole family gets a good weekend: the grown-ups enjoy a generous buffet and live entertainment, while children aged 6 to 12 have games and activities of their own. It runs every Saturday from 1pm to 4pm in Port Saeed, Deira, on the Dubai Creek waterfront.
The idea behind it is refreshingly simple. Plenty of Dubai brunches are built for adults with children as an afterthought; Brunchtopia is pitched the other way round, as a chance for families to slow down, share a few laughs and actually spend time together at the weekend.
Creek Kitchen and the Jewel of the Creek
Creek Kitchen is the all-day restaurant at Marriott Marquis Dubai Creek, which sits in the Jewel of the Creek development at Port Saeed. Forbes Travel Guide describes it as a restaurant built around live cooking stations and a buffet, with a terrace overlooking the creek in the cooler months. As the weather turns, that terrace becomes one of the nicer reasons to choose a Deira brunch over one on the coast.
The hotel itself is large, with 590 rooms and apartments, and its design nods to the area’s heritage, with lantern-style lamps and maritime-themed artwork. It is a calmer, more local corner of the city than JBR or Downtown, and for families in Deira, Bur Dubai, Garhoud or Festival City it is a far shorter journey.
What to expect on a Brunchtopia Saturday
The buffet
The brunch is a generous buffet with live stations. Specific dishes and cuisines are not listed, and the hotel notes that menu items and live stations may change without notice, so it is a good fit for families with a mix of tastes rather than anyone set on a particular dish. The buffet format is what makes it work with children: everyone can go back for what they like, at their own pace.
Games and activities for children
Children aged 6 to 12 get their own programme of games and age-appropriate activities through the afternoon. That gives parents a genuine break to sit, eat and talk, while children have something to do beyond waiting for dessert. Children under 6 can come along at no extra charge, subject to venue policy and confirmation, so it is worth confirming when you book if you are bringing toddlers.
Live entertainment
There is live entertainment and family entertainment through the brunch. Performers are not named, and the programme may change from week to week.
Drinks packages
Packages come in three tiers: Soft, House beverage and Sparkling. Anyone not drinking alcohol can stick with the Soft package, which keeps the afternoon simple for designated drivers. Alcohol is served only to guests aged 21 and over, and valid original photo ID may be requested; the hotel may also decline to serve alcohol in line with UAE law and responsible service practice.
Who it suits
- Families with primary-age children, who get the most out of the 6 to 12 activities
- Parents of toddlers, since under-6s can attend subject to confirmation
- Grandparents and extended family groups looking for one table where everyone is catered for
- Deira and Creek-side residents who would rather not cross the city for a Saturday brunch
It is less suited to groups looking for a loud, adults-only party brunch; Brunchtopia’s whole point is a relaxed family afternoon.
Good to know before you book
- You need a valid Platinumlist ticket or e-ticket for entry.
- Tickets are valid only for the date and package you choose, and bookings cannot be cancelled or changed.
- Packages cannot be swapped for another package or exchanged for cash.
- Proof of age may be requested for child tickets.
- Outside food and drink are not permitted unless the venue approves them, which is worth noting for birthday cakes.
Getting to Marriott Marquis Dubai Creek
By car, head for Deira and Port Saeed along the creek waterfront. The hotel offers valet and garage parking, which makes it easy with children and buggies. On the Metro, take the Red Line to City Centre Deira or GGICO station, then a taxi of around five minutes. RTA buses serve Port Saeed and Deira City Centre, and taxis are easy to find. Pick-up and drop-off are not included.
The hotel is around five minutes by car from Deira City Centre mall and under ten minutes from Dubai International Airport, so it also works for families with visiting relatives staying nearby. After brunch, the Al Ras souks and the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood are within a short drive if you fancy an afternoon wander in old Dubai.
