Sugar Daddy Play 2027 in Dubai

Sugar Daddy, a social comedy play, comes to Dubai Opera in Dubai on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 January 2027 as part of the Dubai Shopping Festival. Presented by Al Qaiser Events, the play turns a sharp, funny eye on modern relationships, where money and feelings become tangled and appearances rarely match reality. The opening performance on 8 January starts at 8:30pm.

The Story of the Sugar Daddy Play in Dubai

Sugar Daddy is built as a social comedy. It looks at contemporary relationships based on mutual interests and material expectations, and asks what happens when what people want from each other is not quite what they say.

At the centre of the plot is a young person who ends up in a relationship with a wealthy figure. That decision sets off a chain of events, full of comic situations and unexpected paradoxes, that gradually exposes the conflict between real values and deceptive appearances. The humour comes from character and circumstance: misunderstandings, awkward moments and the gap between how people present themselves and who they turn out to be.

Comedy With Something to Say

Under the jokes, the play has a point. By putting a relationship driven by money at the heart of the story, it invites the audience to laugh at the characters while recognising some very familiar modern pressures. It is the kind of theatre that gives you something to talk about on the way home, rather than a night of slapstick.

The Platinumlist listing marks the show as a top seller, a sign that the two Dubai Opera dates are drawing strong interest.

Part of Dubai Shopping Festival 2026 to 2027

The play is staged during the 32nd Dubai Shopping Festival, which runs across the city between 4 December 2026 and 17 January 2027. Its two January nights fall in the last stretch of the festival, after the New Year rush, making it an easy way to add a theatre evening to a busy season. The same week, Russian pop star Leonid Agutin plays Dubai Opera on 6 January.

Note that Sugar Daddy is a venue hire presented by a third-party promoter, Al Qaiser Events, and is not produced or presented by Dubai Opera.

An Evening at Dubai Opera

Dubai Opera sits on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai. The building opens two hours before the show and the auditorium doors open 30 minutes before curtain up, so on the opening night doors open at 8pm. Latecomers may not be admitted once the performance has started and may only be let in at an interval, if there is one; late arrival is not refunded.

By car, leave Sheikh Zayed Road at the Financial Center Road exit, follow the signs for Downtown Dubai and continue along Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. By metro, take the Red Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station, then walk about 10 minutes or take a short taxi ride.

Who Should Book

Sugar Daddy suits couples and groups of friends who enjoy theatre with a comic edge and a bit of social commentary. Families with older children can attend too: everyone aged 3 and over needs a ticket for the Main Auditorium, children under 3 are not admitted, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

Dubai Opera asks guests to avoid overly casual or revealing clothing such as shorts or flip-flops, and guests who ignore the dress code may be refused entry. Outside food and drink are not allowed, photography and recording are prohibited, and bags are checked at security. Tickets may not be resold.
