One Stage: Bamboo x Cup of Joe 2026 in Dubai puts two generations of Filipino music on the same bill at Dubai World Trade Centre on Friday 11 December. On one side is Bamboo, the rock voice behind some of the biggest OPM anthems of the 2000s; on the other, Cup of Joe, the Baguio band whose song “Multo” became the longest-running number one in the history of the Philippines Hot 100. Doors open at 6pm in Halls 6 and 7 and the music starts at 7pm.
Who is Bamboo?
Bamboo is the stage name of Francisco “Bamboo” Mañalac, born in Quezon City in 1976 and raised partly in San Francisco after his family moved there when he was about ten. He first found fame in the 1990s as the original frontman of Rivermaya, singing on the albums Rivermaya, Trip and Atomic Bomb.
After returning to the Philippines in 2002, he formed the band Bamboo with former Rivermaya bassist Nathan Azarcon, guitarist Ira Cruz and drummer Vic Mercado. Their debut album As The Music Plays went double platinum, and songs such as “Noypi”, “Mr. Clay” and “Masaya” became part of the soundtrack of a generation. “Hallelujah” was Song of the Year at the 2006 Awit Awards, and “Tatsulok” won Best Rock Recording in 2008. The band split in 2011, and Bamboo went on to a solo career and to television as a coach on The Voice of the Philippines and The Voice Kids.
Songs fans will hope to hear
The organisers promise signature songs and fan favourites, though no set list has been published. The Bamboo catalogue that Filipino audiences know by heart includes:
- Noypi (2004), the proud, chant-along anthem.
- Masaya (2004), the track highlighted alongside his name on the ticket page.
- Hallelujah and Much Has Been Said (2005).
- Tatsulok and Probinsyana (2007).
Who are Cup of Joe?
Cup of Joe are a pop rock band from Baguio, formed in 2018 by friends who were in their final year at Saint Louis University Laboratory High School. Led by vocalists Gian Bernardino and Raphaell Ridao, with Gabriel Fernandez on lead guitar, CJ Fernandez on rhythm guitar and Xen Gareza on keyboards, they signed to Viva Records in 2019.
Their rise has been rapid. “Multo”, released in September 2024 as the lead single of their debut album Silakbo, spent 33 weeks at the top of the Philippines Hot 100 and became the first song by a Filipino act to enter the Billboard Global 200. Billboard Philippines named Cup of Joe its leading artist of 2025, and Spotify Philippines named them its top local artist and top local group of the same year. Other favourites include “Tingin” with Janine Teñoso, “Estranghero”, “Misteryoso” and “Mananatili”.
Back in Dubai
This is not the band’s first time playing to UAE fans: Cup of Joe performed at Coca-Cola Arena in November 2025, following their Stardust concert in Manila and a North American tour. One Stage brings them back a year later, this time sharing the night with one of the artists whose music shaped the OPM scene they grew up in.
Why this pairing works
The appeal of One Stage is the contrast. Bamboo represents the guitar-driven OPM rock of the mid-2000s, while Cup of Joe carry that tradition into a softer, streaming-era pop rock sound. Fans who grew up singing “Noypi” and younger listeners who have “Multo” on repeat can share the same night out, which is exactly the point of the bill.
The concert is presented by Pantheon Art, Culture & Real Estate and organised by HOP Events, and it is a one-night-only show.
The venue: Dubai World Trade Centre, Halls 6 and 7
The show takes place in Halls 6 and 7 of Dubai World Trade Centre on Sheikh Zayed Road, one of the city’s main exhibition and events complexes. The ticket page does not publish a seating layout, an age policy or a dress code, so check your confirmation email for any entry instructions from the organiser.
Getting there
- By car: head along Sheikh Zayed Road (E11), take exit 52 towards Trade Center Street, then turn left onto Al Mustaqbal Street (D86).
- By bus: bus X22 stops at Emirates Tower 2, around a seven-minute walk from the venue.
- By taxi: taxis and ride-hailing apps are the simplest option on a busy concert night.
If your plans change, the ticket page says you can exchange your ticket with another fan through Platinumlist.
Who it suits
This is a night for the UAE’s Filipino community first of all, and for anyone who loves guitar-led pop and rock sung in Filipino and English. Groups of friends, colleagues and families will all find songs to sing along to. If you only know “Multo” from social media, it is a good way to hear the band live, and to discover the Bamboo songs that came before it.
