What is the Dubai Fitness Challenge?

Launched in 2017, the DFC asks everyone in the city to commit to 30 minutes of activity every day for 30 days. It is organised by Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council, and 2026 marks the 10th edition, running from 31 October to 29 November. (Dubai Media Office)

More than 16 million people have taken part since it began, with over 3 million in 2025 alone. Last year, 307,000 people joined Dubai Run and 40,327 cyclists took part in Dubai Ride. You do not have to be sporty: a brisk walk, a swim, a yoga class or a game of padel all count.

How to register for DFC 2026

Step 1: sign up for the challenge

Registration is open now and free for residents and visitors. Go to dubaifitnesschallenge.com, click Register and create your account. (Gulf News)

Step 2: register for each event separately

Signing up for the challenge does not automatically give you a place at Dubai Ride or Dubai Run. Each flagship event has its own registration on the DFC website, and you will receive a QR code to collect your bib. Register early, as places can fill.

Is it really free?

Yes. The challenge, the flagship events and the Fitness Villages are free. Dubai Ride participants also receive a free T-shirt.

Dubai Ride 2026: Sunday 1 November

Dubai Ride closes Sheikh Zayed Road to cars and opens it to cyclists for one morning. It is one of the most memorable things you can do in the city, and you do not need to be a serious rider.

Routes

  • 4km family route: through Downtown Dubai along Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, passing Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and Burj Khalifa. Ideal for children and casual riders.
  • 12km Sheikh Zayed Road route: from Dubai World Trade Centre towards Safa Park and back, crossing the Dubai Canal bridge.

Timings and starting points

The official page lists a 6am start and The National reports rides beginning at 6:15am, so plan to be there from 6am. Riders are asked to arrive between 4am and 6am, gates close at 7:30am and roads reopen at 8:15am. Start areas include the Museum of the Future, Al Satwa, Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay and Lower Financial Street. (The National, DFC)

Bike rules

  • Bring your own bike.
  • A helmet is compulsory.
  • E-bikes are allowed. Scooters are not.
  • All ages are welcome.
  • There is a dedicated start area for People of Determination (contact PoD@linkviva.com).

Bib collection

Collect your bib from the Dubai Municipality 30×30 Fitness Village in Zabeel Park between 28 and 31 October. Bring the registration QR code you received by email.

How to register

Register at dubairide.com, which takes you to the official DFC Dubai Ride page.

Dubai Run 2026: Sunday 22 November

Dubai Run is the biggest community run in the region, with Sheikh Zayed Road closed to traffic for walkers, joggers, families and runners.

5km or 10km?

  • 5km: starts on Sheikh Zayed Road near the Museum of the Future and finishes on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown. Flat and family-friendly, and many people walk it.
  • 10km: same start, finishing at the Gate Building in DIFC. Better if you want more of a challenge.

(DFC Dubai Run)

Start time and road reopening

Dubai Run starts at 6:30am. Everyone needs to finish by 9am, when the roads reopen. (The National)

Registration and bib collection

Registration is through the official Dubai Run page. At the time of writing, the official bib collection dates for 2026 had not been published. In 2025, bibs were collected at Zabeel Park in the three weeks before the run, so expect something similar. We will update this guide when the dates are confirmed.

Getting there

Roads around the route close early, so the Metro is the easiest option. In 2025, 5km runners were advised to use World Trade Centre station and 10km runners Emirates Towers station. Check the official 2026 guidance closer to the date.

Dubai Stand Up Paddle 2026: 7 to 8 November, Hatta

Presented by the RTA, Dubai Stand Up Paddle takes place at Hatta Dam over the weekend of 7 and 8 November. Sessions run from 8am to 5:30pm on both days. It is a great excuse for a day trip to the mountains, and you do not need any experience. Note that the official page now says registration has closed. (DFC Dubai SUP) (Gulf News)

Dubai Yoga 2026: Sunday 29 November

The challenge closes with Dubai Yoga on Sunday 29 November, the final day of DFC 2026. According to the official event page, the morning starts with a sound bath and guided breathwork, followed by a 30-minute sunrise yoga session, then wellness activities, entertainment and food. It is presented by MHero. The start time and venue had not been announced at the time of writing. (DFC Dubai Yoga)

30×30 Fitness Villages and Community Hubs

There will be three free Fitness Villages for the 30 days, with free classes, ladies’ areas and courts for basketball, football, padel and volleyball, plus more than 23 Community Fitness Hubs around the city. (Khaleej Times)

  • Zabeel Park (confirmed): the Dubai Municipality 30×30 Fitness Village at Gate 2 is open from 28 October to 29 November. Entry is free and there are water refill stations. (DFC)
  • The other two villages: not yet announced for 2026. In 2025 they were at Kite Beach and Al Warqa’a Park.
  • Community Hubs: the list is still to be announced.
