About Moulin Rouge Le Musical in Dubai

Inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s film, Moulin Rouge! The Musical brings the world of Montmartre in 1900 to the stage. It pairs a tragic romance with a modern pop soundtrack and all the theatrical energy of the famous cabaret.

At the heart of the story is Christian, an idealistic young composer who falls hopelessly in love with Satine, the star of the Moulin Rouge. Their romance soon collides with the ambitions of the cabaret’s owner and a dangerous, powerful duke.

This French-language staging brings that story into the intimate space of The Junction, where the drama, colour and music feel close enough to touch.

The Junction’s intimate setting means the costumes, choreography and emotion of the story are right in front of you, making it a very different experience from a large-scale theatre.

The Venue: The Junction

The Junction is an independent theatre space at Unit H72 in Alserkal Avenue, Dubai’s creative arts district in Al Quoz. Its black-box style auditorium brings audiences right up close to the actors, which makes it a favourite for community and international theatre productions.

Alserkal Avenue is packed with galleries, cafés and design studios, so arriving a little early gives you the chance to explore one of the city’s most interesting cultural neighbourhoods.

Getting There & Parking

By car, take the Al Manara exit (exit 43) from Sheikh Zayed Road, turn right onto Al Manara Street, turn right at the first intersection onto 8th Street, then take the second exit at the roundabout onto 17th Street; Alserkal Avenue is on your left. By metro, take the Red Line to Noor Bank station, then a short taxi or bus ride. Taxis from anywhere in Dubai know the area well.

What to Bring

Bring your digital ticket, a light layer for the air-conditioned theatre and, if you like, a touch of red to get into the Moulin Rouge spirit.
