About this event

The 90’s Show returns to Abu Dhabi on Friday 18 December 2026, bringing three of the defining voices of 1990s Egyptian pop, Mohamed Fouad, Ehab Tawfik and Hisham Abbas, to Space42 Arena on Al Raha Street for one night of songs that shaped a generation of Arab listeners.

It is a sequel of sorts. The first 90’s Show at Space42 Arena, on 11 April 2026, paired Ehab Tawfik and Hisham Abbas with composer and singer Hamid El Shaeri, and the state news agency WAM later described it as hugely popular. This December edition keeps two of those headliners and adds Mohamed Fouad.

The April line-up had a family feel, since Hamid El Shaeri was the composer who helped Hisham Abbas become a singer, and the two recorded songs together, including the duet Halaal Aleik. Bringing in Mohamed Fouad shifts the balance towards three solo stars, each with his own run of 1990s hits, and gives fans who missed the spring concert a reason to come back.

The 90’s Show in Abu Dhabi and the Al-Jeel sound

The concert celebrates the decade when Egyptian pop, the Al-Jeel or shababi style, dominated radios and cassette players across the Arab world: bright, melodic songs built for young audiences. All three artists on this bill came through that scene, and between them they cover most of the songs people still request at weddings and family gatherings.

The appeal is simple: three catalogues big enough to carry a concert on their own, shared across one evening. Expect a night where the audience sings as loudly as the stage, with each artist bringing the hits listed by the organisers rather than new material.

Mohamed Fouad, Ehab Tawfik and Hisham Abbas

Mohamed Fouad

Born in 1961, Mohamed Fouad is a singer, actor and songwriter whose music and film career peaked in the 1990s, and he is often called Sout Masr, the voice of Egypt. He started out in the band 4M, which he left in 1983, before going solo. He later moved into television, filming his first series, Agla Min Hayaty, in 2010 and hosting the show Khush Ala Fo’sh in 2014, and he has kept recording, ending 2020 with a mahraganat-style song. His set list for the night draws on songs such as Tameny Aleek, El Hob El Ha2e2y, Ana Law Habebak and Habibi Ya.

Ehab Tawfik

Born in Cairo in 1966, Ehab Tawfik performs mostly in the shababi style and released his debut album, Ekminny, in 1990. He learned the oud as a child and went on to study music formally, earning a master’s degree in 1995 and a doctorate in music and Arabic singing in 2002, which makes him one of the more academically trained pop stars of his generation. His song Taala Nesameh also featured in an Egyptian film. Songs named for this concert include Sahrany, Allah Aleik Ya Seidy and Tetraga Feya.

Hisham Abbas

Born in 1963, Hisham Abbas is best known for Habibi Dah, also known as Nari Narain, and for his religious song Asmaa Allah al-Husna. He began in a group called Pats Band before composer Hamid El Shaeri helped launch his solo career, and he has released more than 16 studio albums since his 1990s breakthrough. Expect Habibi Dah, Einy and Fenoh on the night, and fans will be hoping for other favourites such as Wana Wana, Ta’ala and Ya Leila.

Space42 Arena on Al Raha Beach

Space42 Arena is a multi-purpose venue on Al Raha Beach, named in a ten-year naming-rights deal announced in October 2024 between the Abu Dhabi company Space42 and the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation. It hosts everything from combat sports and esports events to concerts. Its main hall is a 2,500-square-metre indoor arena that holds up to 3,000 guests, so this is a large concert without the scale of a stadium show, and closer to the stage than many arena nights.

The ticket page sets a minimum age of six. Once your ticket has been validated there is no re-entry, so plan dinner before you go in. A long list of items is not allowed inside, including power banks, outside food and drink, large bags, strollers, pets, professional cameras, selfie sticks and vapes, and prohibited items will be confiscated at the entrance.

Who the 90’s Show suits

The concert is aimed squarely at anyone who grew up with these songs in the 1990s, and at their children who learned them on family car journeys. It works for a reunion with old school friends, a night out for couples who remember these songs from the first time round, or a family outing with older children, given the age limit of six and over.

If Arabic music is your plan for the weekend, the next night brings Laylat Kawkab Al Sharq with Mai Farouk in Sharjah, a tribute to Umm Kulthum. For more live music, browse our concerts guide, and see things to do in Abu Dhabi and things to do in December for the rest of the month.
