Down to Earth, billed as the UAE’s annual green gathering, returns to Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai and the neighbouring Jaddaf Waterfront Sculpture Park on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November 2026. Hosted by Art Jameel, it is a relaxed weekend that connects visitors with artists, gardeners, makers and community groups who care about nature and more sustainable ways of living, with workshops, performances, tours, a Green Bazaar and plenty for children to do.
Down to Earth Dubai: Art Jameel’s Green Weekend
Down to Earth has become a familiar fixture on the city’s autumn calendar since Jameel Arts Centre launched it as an annual festival celebrating ecology and the environment. Art Jameel describes it as a community festival that gives a platform to local green businesses and draws visitors into activities and conversations around sustainable lifestyles. As the weather cools, it invites families and friends to spend time outdoors by the creek, pick up practical ideas and meet the people already putting them into practice.
The festival sits within a wider commitment. Art Jameel has published a sustainability charter for its own work, and during COP28 in 2023 it commissioned a sustainability pavilion at Jameel Arts Centre, so Down to Earth is less a one-off event than the most public, family-friendly side of a long-running focus on the climate.
The 2026 listings promise a weekend of food, fashion, music and plants across the sculpture park. The full programme of individual workshops and tours had not been published at the time of writing, so check the Jameel Arts Centre page closer to the weekend for timings.
Last year gives a good idea of the scale. The sixth edition ran on 22 and 23 November 2025, free with pre-registration, and its Green Bazaar was billed as a hub for sustainable gifting and mindful shopping in the sculpture park. Partners that year included Afikra, The Farmers’ Market, Fujifilm, Urban Market Concept, Vinyl Souk and Yaraqa, working with the HIBA Art Project, a mix that shows how far the festival reaches beyond gardening into food, music, photography and design.
What Happens Over the Weekend
Workshops, performances and tours
Expect workshops, performances, tours and family activities themed around nature, gardening and sustainable living. Past programmes have been split across both days with different sessions on each, so it is worth looking at the schedule before choosing which day to go. Some workshops have limited capacity and need their own registration on top of the general sign-up, so book those early.
The Green Bazaar
A curated Green Bazaar brings together plants, sustainable homewares, vintage and preloved fashion and local eco-conscious products, many from small UAE businesses. Bring a tote bag, because it is easy to leave with a new plant or two.
Books and design from the Art Jameel shop
The Art Jameel shop puts together a selection of books, gifts and design objects on sustainability, ecology and art. Earlier editions have also shared a reading list from the centre’s library for anyone who wants to read further.
Time in the sculpture park
Between activities, take a walk through the Jaddaf Waterfront Sculpture Park beside the creek, a peaceful outdoor space with large works set among the lawns and paths.
Jameel Arts Centre and the Jaddaf Waterfront
Jameel Arts Centre opened in 2018 as Dubai’s first major independent contemporary arts institution. It sits on the Jaddaf Waterfront beside Dubai Creek, with galleries, a library, a shop and a restaurant inside and the sculpture park right outside. That mix of indoor and outdoor spaces suits a festival that moves between workshops, market stalls and the garden, and it means you can step inside to see the current exhibitions if the afternoon sun is strong.
The centre is a short drive from Downtown Dubai and Dubai Festival City, with parking on site, although spaces fill faster than usual on festival weekends. By public transport, take the Metro Green Line to Creek station and finish the journey by taxi.
Who Will Enjoy Down to Earth
The weekend is open to all ages and is especially good for families, from keen gardeners and eco-conscious shoppers to children who like getting their hands busy. It also suits anyone who simply wants a gentle afternoon outdoors by the water with something interesting to see. Opening is at 3pm on both days, and arriving close to the start usually makes for a calmer visit with little ones before the busier late afternoon and evening.
Earlier editions have been free with pre-registration, and registration is required again this year through the form linked from this page; keep your confirmation to hand when you arrive. There is no dress code, but sun protection and a refillable water bottle are sensible for an afternoon in the park.
