Passive Blessings Thursday Meals in Dubai is a weekly volunteering evening in Al Quoz, where a small community of volunteers shares hot meals with the construction workers who live in the area’s labour camps. The next gathering on our listing is Thursday 29 October 2026, and it happens every Thursday after that too.
There is no ticket, no sign-up form and no induction. You join the WhatsApp group, check the pin on Thursday and turn up. If you have been looking for a regular, hands-on way to give back that fits around a working week, this is one of the simplest places to begin.
About Passive Blessings Thursday Meals in Dubai
Passive Blessings was started in 2025 by Yusef Bouattoura. The group describes its work as rooted in Sadaqah Jariyah, the idea of ongoing charity, and keeps the focus on hot meals and a moment of recognition for the men who build the city around us. No cameras, no spectacle.
It operates under a permit from the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) of the Government of Dubai, permit number PRHCE-005484337. Charitable distributions in Dubai need official approval, so it is reassuring to see a grassroots group doing things properly.
Everyone is welcome. In the group’s own words, it is open to people who are “Muslim or not. Local or expat. Solo or with friends.” Many of the regulars are not Muslim, and you do not need any previous volunteering experience.
What to Expect
Volunteers meet on Thursday evenings after Maghrib in Al Quoz. The exact time and meeting pin are shared in the WhatsApp group each week, because both can change and the start moves with sunset through the year.
Arriving at the Pin
Head to that week’s pin, find the organisers and ask where you can help. If it is your first time, a quick introduction goes a long way and you will soon see how the evening flows.
Sharing the Meals
The work itself is practical and friendly. You might carry boxes, hand out meals or simply say hello and spend a few minutes with people who work long hours far from home. It is informal, and nobody expects you to know the routine on your first visit.
Coming Back
Missing a Thursday is absolutely fine. There is no membership and no streak to keep up. Come when you can, as often as suits you.
Key Highlights
- A weekly volunteering evening every Thursday after Maghrib in Al Quoz.
- Hot meals shared directly with construction workers living in the area’s labour camps.
- Open to everyone, whatever your faith or nationality, solo or with friends.
- Children are welcome with their families.
- No registration, app or sign-up: just join the WhatsApp group for the weekly pin.
- Operates under an IACAD permit from the Government of Dubai.
Who It Is For
- Anyone who wants a regular volunteering habit that fits around work.
- Families who want to show children what giving back looks like in real life. There is no minimum age, and the group asks that children also treat workers with quiet respect.
- Newcomers to Dubai hoping to meet kind, like-minded people.
- Friends or colleagues looking to do something useful together on a Thursday night.
The Venue: Al Quoz
The gathering takes place in Al Quoz, Dubai, at a meeting pin shared weekly in the WhatsApp group. Because the pin can change from one Thursday to the next, please check the group each week rather than relying on an old location. Save the pin in your maps app before you leave and allow a little time to park.
Visitor Tips
- Join the WhatsApp group first: it is where the weekly time and pin are posted.
- Dress code: modest and comfortable, with closed shoes. Nothing too formal or revealing. Long sleeves are appreciated but not required.
- Photos and filming: do not film workers, and do not photograph anyone without their explicit consent. There is no on-camera content from the labour camps. This applies to children too.
- Bringing things: food, water or supplies are optional. There is no expectation, no minimum and no donation form.
- Contributing financially: if you would like to give money or goods, message the team directly and they will tell you what is needed.
- Questions: email passiveblessings.ae@gmail.com or message @passiveblessings_ on Instagram before your first visit.
- Arrive a little early: introduce yourself to the organisers so they can point you to where help is needed.
If you have been meaning to do something practical for Dubai’s workers, a Thursday evening with Passive Blessings is a lovely place to start. Join the WhatsApp group, check this week’s pin and bring a willing pair of hands.
