Strings & Dreams Easter Concert 2027 in Dubai brings an evening of Bach, much-loved waltzes and Vivaldi’s complete The Four Seasons to the Meyana Theatre at Jumeirah Beach Hotel on Easter Sunday, 28 March 2027. Part of Baldaquin Culture’s Strings & Dreams Virtuoso Sunday Series, it is a concert for family and friends to share at the end of the Easter weekend.
The music starts at 6pm, doors open 30 minutes before, and the evening runs for about 1 hour 40 minutes including an interval.
The programme
The concert is built in two halves, moving from calm Baroque pieces through the ballroom to Vivaldi’s seasons.
Part I
- Pachelbel: Canon in D, the gentle piece built over a repeating bass line, and one of the most recognisable tunes in classical music.
- Bach: Air on the G String, the slow, serene movement from his Orchestral Suite No. 3.
- Handel: “Lascia ch’io pianga”, a tender aria from his opera Rinaldo, here played by strings.
- Johann Strauss II: The Blue Danube, the Viennese waltz from 1867 that has become a symbol of elegance and celebration.
- Tchaikovsky: Waltz of the Flowers, the sweeping waltz from The Nutcracker, the ballet first staged in St Petersburg in 1892.
Part II
The second half is given over to Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, performed complete. Written in the early 18th century, the four violin concertos paint pictures in sound: birdsong and streams in Spring, a heavy heat and sudden storm in Summer, harvest celebrations and a hunt in Autumn, and icy winds and chattering teeth in Winter. Hearing all twelve movements in one sitting, rather than the famous extracts, is the best way to appreciate how carefully Vivaldi built each scene. The concertos were published in 1725 as part of his Opus 8 collection, Il cimento dell’armonia e dell’inventione, alongside four sonnets describing each season, which many scholars believe Vivaldi wrote himself.
Meet the Baldaquin Ensemble
The concert is performed by the Baldaquin Ensemble, a string quartet of internationally awarded musicians:
- Petr Gladysh, cello: a three-time prizewinner at the Karl Davydov International Competition and winner of the European Music Competition Paolo Serrao in Italy.
- Anna Larionova-Gladysh, viola: winner of awards including the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition, the Rovere d’Oro Prize and the Tadini International Music Competition in Italy.
- Sergei Belozertsev, violin: a laureate of the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition and the Mario Fillioley Competition in Italy.
- Daria Kuchenova, violin: a prizewinner at the Beethoven Competition in the Czech Republic and the Musahodzhaeva International Competition.
With just four players, pieces usually heard with a full orchestra, such as The Blue Danube and Waltz of the Flowers, take on a more intimate character, and you can follow each instrument’s line clearly.
An Easter Sunday at the Meyana Theatre
The same ensemble plays a morning concert for children earlier the same day, the Young Maestro Easter Family Concert, which also features Vivaldi, Bach and Handel. Strings & Dreams is the grown-up evening version, with a longer programme, an interval and the full Four Seasons, and it is recommended for ages 10 and up. Every attendee needs a ticket, regardless of age.
The performance is presented in English, and the foyer bar opens an hour before the concert, so you can meet friends for a drink before taking your seats.
Who it suits
This concert suits anyone who loves the classical favourites and wants to hear them played live, couples looking for a relaxed Easter evening, and families with older children who have outgrown story-led concerts. If you have only ever heard The Four Seasons in snippets, this is a chance to hear the whole cycle as Vivaldi intended.
