Paul Chowdhry brings his Artificial Indian stand-up show to Dubai on Friday 18 December 2026, playing New Covent Garden Theatre at Mall of the Emirates. Presented by Live Nation Middle East, it is a chance to see one of Britain’s biggest-selling comedians in a 600-seat theatre, after earlier Dubai dates at Coca-Cola Arena and Dubai Opera. The booking announcement lists doors at 7pm and the show at 7:30pm.
Who is Paul Chowdhry?
Born Tajpaul Singh Chowdhry in 1974, Paul Chowdhry is an English comedian and actor of Indian Punjabi Sikh heritage. He built his act in pubs and clubs around London before moving on to theatres and then arenas, and he is often described as the most successful British Indian stand-up of all time.
His touring shows tell the story of that rise: Not PC in 2010, What’s Happening White People? in 2012, PC’s World in 2014, Live Innit in 2017, Family Friendly Comedian in 2022 and Englandia, which debuted in 2025. Live Innit was the breakthrough. It was extended twice, included five nights at Hammersmith Apollo, and in 2017 made him the first comedian of Asian heritage to sell out Wembley Arena. The show won Best Live Event at the 2018 ITV Asian Media Awards, and the recorded special was released on Amazon Prime Video in 2019 before being shown on Comedy Central. He has since sold out The O2 and Birmingham’s arena as well.
On television, UK audiences know him from the third series of Taskmaster in 2016, alongside Dave Gorman, Sara Pascoe, Al Murray and eventual winner Rob Beckett, as well as from Live at the Apollo and as host of Stand Up for the Week.
Artificial Indian: the show coming to Dubai
Artificial Indian is the show Chowdhry took on his first tour of the United States in January 2026, with dates at venues including the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, the Gramercy Theatre in New York, the Majestic Theatre in Dallas and The Three Clubs in Los Angeles. US listings described it as a sharp, politically charged take on his record-breaking UK arena show Englandia, and he also performed it as “AI: Artificial Indian” at the Netflix Is A Joke Fest.
After the January run he kept the show on the road through 2026, with a date at the Ice House in Los Angeles during Netflix Is A Joke Fest on 6 May and a June stop at Center Stage in Atlanta, billed as following the completion of his North American Artificial Indian tour. Dubai gets the show after that North American run and alongside his UK work.
The title plays on AI, and US listings billed the show as razor-sharp, hilarious and politically charged. Expect a full stand-up set from one comedian rather than a line-up, sketch or variety show. The announcement names no support act, and no age guidance appears in the details available to us, so check the ticket page if you are thinking of bringing teenagers.
Paul Chowdhry’s Dubai history
This is not Chowdhry’s first time in front of a Dubai audience. He has played Coca-Cola Arena, headlining the Dark Laughs comedy nights there, and returned on 6 October 2024 for a show at Dubai Opera. Fans who saw either of those will find this one very different in scale: New Covent Garden Theatre is a much smaller room than the arena, which suits a comedian whose timing relies on pauses and crowd reactions.
New Covent Garden Theatre at Mall of the Emirates
New Covent Garden Theatre opened in 2025 as part of the redevelopment of Mall of the Emirates, on the site of the former Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (DUCTAC). DUCTAC’s main theatre had around 543 seats; the arts centre closed in 2018, its auditoriums were revived as The Theatre in 2020, and the space was then rebuilt as New Covent Garden, which held a soft opening in June 2025. The operator lists it at 600 seats, and the same arts hub houses the first international branch of London’s Pineapple Dance Studios. It is on Level 2 of the mall in Al Barsha.
The closest parking is in the Orange Zone, areas A5 and A6 on Level 2. By Metro, take the Red Line to Mall of the Emirates station and follow the signs through the mall. Taxi passengers can ask for Mall of the Emirates, Entrance A, then take the lift or escalator to Level 2. With doors 30 minutes before the show, there is time for dinner in the mall beforehand.
When the ticket page opened, it showed the show as coming soon with an option to register for updates, so check the live listing for seating categories and availability before you plan your evening.
