Kevin Bridges Live brings the Scottish stand-up to Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Saturday 9 January 2027, with his Here If You Need Me World Tour as part of the latest Abu Dhabi Comedy Season. Presented by GME Events, it is his only show in the capital on this tour, and it is a no-phones night: devices are sealed in pouches at the door so the arena can concentrate on the jokes.
Who is Kevin Bridges?
Kevin Bridges was born in 1986 in Clydebank, just outside Glasgow, and grew up in the Hardgate area. He started doing stand-up at 17, straight after leaving school, at The Stand Comedy Club in Glasgow, and within a few years he was one of the fastest-rising comics in Britain. His mainstream breakthrough came on BBC One’s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow in 2009, followed by appearances on Live at the Apollo.
His tours have grown steadily bigger:
- The Story So Far, released on DVD in 2010 and filmed at Glasgow’s SECC
- The Story Continues (2012)
- A Whole Different Story (2015), a 145-date tour
- The Brand New Tour (2018), which included a record 19 sold-out nights at The Hydro in Glasgow and was voted Ticketmaster’s UK Ticket of the Year, the first time a comedian topped that poll
- The Overdue Catch-Up (2022 to 2023), filmed for DVD at Cork Opera House
- A North American tour in 2025, then Here If You Need Me in 2026
He has sold more tickets at Glasgow’s SEC campus than any other solo artist. Away from the stage, he fronted the BBC One series Kevin Bridges: What’s the Story? in 2012, wrote the memoir We Need to Talk About… Kevin Bridges in 2014 and published his first novel, The Black Dog, in 2022.
What to expect from Here If You Need Me
Bridges is a storyteller first. His routines grow out of the small details of everyday life: family, growing up in the west of Scotland, getting older, and the gap between how things are supposed to go and how they actually turn out. He tends to build long, winding stories that pay off several minutes later rather than firing off one-liners, and his delivery, with its broad Glaswegian rhythm, is a big part of the fun. Here If You Need Me is his newest tour, so even fans who have seen The Overdue Catch-Up can expect fresh material. No support acts are listed.
A night without phones
This show bans gadgets from the auditorium, which changes how the night feels. Without screens glowing around you, the whole room stays focused on the stage and on the story being told. The rules are:
- Phones, smartwatches, smart glasses, earbuds, cameras and similar devices are not allowed in the performance space.
- After your ticket is scanned, set your phone to silent. At security it is sealed in a JAYB pouch that you keep with you.
- You can unlock and use your phone only in designated JAYB phone use areas, and it must be resealed before you leave them.
- Anyone seen using a device during the performance will be escorted out.
Pouching takes a little time at security, which is why doors open 90 minutes before the start.
At Etihad Arena
Etihad Arena, on the Yas Bay waterfront on Yas Island, is one of the largest indoor venues in the UAE and a venue for this year’s Abu Dhabi Comedy Season, which brings big names in stand-up to the capital each year. Doors open at 6:30pm and Bridges takes the stage at 8pm.
Entry rules
- Age: strictly 16 and over. Guests aged 16 to 20 must be with an adult aged 21 or over, and staff may check photo ID and the card used for the booking.

- Payments: the venue is contactless and there are no ATMs inside.

Accessible tickets for people of determination are sold separately. To get there, drive from central Abu Dhabi on Sheikh Zayed Road and follow the signs, or take a taxi. The nearest bus stop is Al Matar Al Qadeem, about 800 metres away.
Who it suits
This is the one for fans of British stand-up, Scots and Brits living in the UAE who grew up watching him on Live at the Apollo, and anyone who likes comedy built on storytelling rather than shock. With a 16+ rule, it suits adults and older teenagers. If you are driving from Dubai, allow time for the journey to Yas Island and the security queue.
