The Grimm Brothers’ Theatre 2026 in Dubai

The Grimm Brothers’ Theatre is a family comedy show in Dubai on Saturday 7 November 2026 at Dubai Performing Arts Academy in Jumeirah Park, presented for Russian-speaking audiences under its original title «Балаганчик братьев Гримм». Billed as an almost grown-up fairy tale for the whole family, it is a light, warm and ironic one-hour play about theatre, fairy tales and the people who bring them to life.

The Story Behind The Grimm Brothers’ Theatre in Dubai

The play opens with a small disaster: the show is about to begin and the leading actress has vanished. What do you do? You save the performance, of course.

The premise has fun with a familiar name. The real Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm, became famous across the world for collecting German folk tales in the nineteenth century. In this version, it was the Grimm sisters who became famous under the name of the Grimm brothers. They travel with their own little theatre, a balagan in Russian, the word for the fairground booth theatres of old, telling fairy tales wherever they go. Tonight, though, there is chaos backstage. The company has to find a stand-in for the missing actress, persuade everyone else to go along with the plan and still make it on stage in time.

Things soon get messy in the best way. The fairy tales start to tangle together, the characters develop minds of their own, and every member of the troupe has a strong opinion about how the story should go. Keeping the whole thing under control becomes harder, and funnier, as the hour goes on.

A Show That Works on Two Levels

This is a cheeky piece of theatre with quick changes of role, surprising twists and the atmosphere of an old travelling fair. The producers describe it as a show for the whole family, and it is written to land differently with each generation.

For children

Younger viewers get a proper fairy-tale adventure, with well-known stories popping up and getting mixed together in unexpected ways, and a missing actress whose disappearance drives the plot.

For adults

Grown-ups get the irony, the backstage squabbles and the comedy of a small company trying to hold a show together while everything goes sideways. The play is as much about the theatre-makers as about the tales they tell.

Running time

The performance lasts around 60 minutes, a comfortable length for younger children, and it starts in the early evening, which leaves time for dinner afterwards.

Language and Age Guidance

The show is aimed at Russian-speaking families: the listing is written in Russian and the play is presented under its Russian title, although the page does not explicitly confirm the language of the performance. The age guidance differs between versions of the listing, with the English page recommending ages 6 and over and the Russian page giving 8+, so families with younger children should check the current guidance before booking.

This is not the play’s first visit: the same production was also staged in Dubai in May 2026.

Dubai Performing Arts Academy, Jumeirah Park

Dubai Performing Arts Academy is at 5 E6 Street in Jumeirah Park. It is a smaller venue, so the audience sits close to the stage, which suits a show built on comic timing and quick costume changes. The directions on the listing refer to The Lakes area while the address given is Jumeirah Park, so enter the full street address into your map app before you set off. The listing does not mention parking.

Seating is unreserved in at least one ticket category, so families who want to sit together will want to be there in good time. If plans change, the listing says tickets can be passed on to another guest through the ticketing platform.
