Gaurav Gupta Live 2026 in Dubai brings the dentist-turned-comedian back to the city by popular demand on Saturday 12 December, at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium in the Indian High School, Oud Metha. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm. The set is in Hindi and mixes fresh jokes with brand-new crowdwork, so no two nights are quite the same.
Who is Gaurav Gupta?
Gaurav Gupta trained as a dental surgeon and was, by his own account, the funny one in dental college. He started doing open mics around 2015, at a time when India’s stand-up scene was still small, and kept his dental practice going until he was sure comedy could pay the bills. His parents were apprehensive about the switch at first. In an interview with Gulf News he explained that he did not leave dentistry because it was boring, but because it became monotonous after a point.
His breakthrough came through clean, observational comedy about middle-class Indian family life. He reached the finals of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2017, and his clip “Being Baniya”, built on his own community roots, spread widely through WhatsApp groups. His tours have since taken him to audiences in Australia, the UK and the United States, where his solo show Not Just Baniya played in 2026.
Family comedy without the cussing
Gupta describes his style as “family comedy”. He avoids swearing and abusive language, preferring to find the laughs in the everyday habits of middle-class Indian families that most of his audience will recognise from home. He has also talked about how he builds a joke: testing it on a small crowd first, then a bigger one, and refining it until the punchline lands every time.
What to expect from the show
The Dubai show is billed around his sharp wit and crowdwork. Crowdwork means the comedian talks directly with people in the audience and builds jokes on the spot from their answers, which keeps each show unpredictable. Expect a set that moves between prepared material and conversations with the room. If you would rather watch than take part, do not sit right at the front.
The show is performed in Hindi, so it is best for audiences who follow the language comfortably. Entry is for ages 14 and over, making this a night for adults and older teenagers rather than a family outing with young children.
Back in Dubai
Gupta’s first UAE stand-up show was in January 2023, a Colors night at the Emirates Theatre in Jumeirah. He returns now with fresh jokes, billed as coming back by popular demand. For fans who know him from short clips online, the draw of a live show is new material and crowdwork that changes from night to night, plus the chance to see how a full set builds over an evening.
The venue: Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School
Sheikh Rashid Auditorium is at the Indian High School at 244 Oud Metha Road. Seating details matter here:
- VIP has allocated seats; every other category is first come, first served.
- Silver is inside the main auditorium but involves a few steps.
- Bronze is on the first floor and Balcony on the second, both reached only by stairs, as there is no lift.
- A ramp is available for people of determination, but it does not reach the categories that need stairs, so choose your seats with that in mind.
House rules
- Only popcorn and water bought at the venue may be taken into the auditorium; other food must be eaten near the pantry area, and outside food is not allowed.
- Photography and filming are not allowed once the show starts, and smoking and vaping are not permitted.
- Tickets are non-refundable except in exceptional cases, and upgrades and seat exchanges are not allowed.
Who it suits
This is a night for Hindi-speaking comedy fans, groups of friends and couples who want a clean, relatable show rather than an edgy one. If you have shared his clips in your family group, it is a chance to see how the material works live, and to find out whether you end up as part of the crowdwork. Because of the 14-plus rule, it suits older teenagers out with their parents as well as adults. It is also an easy introduction to Hindi stand-up for anyone who prefers jokes the whole family could hear.
Getting there
Oud Metha is busy on show nights, RTA parking nearby is limited and there is no parking inside the venue, so the organisers recommend taxis, buses, the Metro or car sharing. The nearest Metro stations are Oud Metha and Deira City Centre, and bus routes 10, 27, 28, 66, C18, C4 and X28 serve the area. By car, the drive from Downtown takes around 30 minutes via Oud Metha Road, depending on traffic.
