About this event

Bader Saleh: Bliss of Ignorance 2026 in Dubai brings one of the Arab world’s first YouTube comedy stars to a small, close-up room in Bur Dubai. On Friday 27 November, the Jeddah-born comedian performs his stand-up special at Live @ Play by Hive Dubai, with doors at 8:30pm and the show at 9pm. It is performed entirely in Arabic and presented by Mystic Entertainment.

Who is Bader Saleh?

Bader Saleh was born in Jeddah in 1984 and started out in radio before turning to stand-up around 2009, when live comedy in Saudi Arabia was only just finding its feet. He is widely credited as one of the comedians who built the modern Saudi stand-up scene, and he became one of the first comedy stars in the region to rise through YouTube.

His breakthrough was Eysh Elly, an Arabic YouTube show he launched in 2011. Each episode ran for about ten minutes and mixed sketches with segments poking fun at other viral clips, and he described the tone as good, clean fun that avoided racist, sexist or sexual jokes. Episodes regularly passed a million views, and several members of its all-Saudi cast went on to start stand-up careers of their own. The channel grew to millions of subscribers and hundreds of millions of views. In 2015 he became the first person in the Middle East to receive YouTube’s Golden Play Button.

Television followed: in 2016 MBC gave him a prime-time series, The Tonight Show with Bader Saleh, the same year he toured with the Bisht Comedy Tour, and he has since acted in Doon, the first Saudi drama made with the streaming service Viu.

His history with Dubai

Dubai audiences know him well. He was the media face of the Dubai tourism festival in 2015 and 2016, and in 2015 he headlined the Dubai Comedy Festival on a bill that also included Dave Chappelle and Trevor Noah. He has also received an entertainment award from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at the Arab Social Media Influencers Summit, and has performed across the UAE, including an all-Arabic show at du Forum on Yas Island.

What to expect from Bliss of Ignorance

Bliss of Ignorance is a full comedy special rather than a short club spot, which gives him room to build longer stories and running jokes across the evening. If you know him from Eysh Elly, expect the same observational eye on everyday life in the Gulf, but with material written for the stage and a live crowd rather than a camera. He has long said that stand-up, not television, is the centre of his career, and this show is a chance to see that side of him up close. Because the show is entirely in Arabic, it will land best with Arabic speakers who can catch every punchline and turn of phrase.

The setting is very different from the arenas and festival stages he has played before. Live @ Play by Hive Dubai is an intimate room, so you are close to the stage and the atmosphere feels more like a comedy club than a theatre.

Seating and house rules

  • Seating: general admission, first come, first served. The first four rows are Premium and the rest are Standard, so arriving at doors makes a real difference to where you sit.

The venue: The Hive, Bur Dubai

The Hive is at 501 Al Safa M Tower, also known as the Mostafawi Building, at the junction of Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road and Al Mankool Road in Bur Dubai, right by Gate 1 of Al Fahidi Metro station on the Green Line. That makes it one of the easiest comedy venues in the city to reach without a car. The Sharaf DG Metro bus stops 3-1 and 2-1 are a two to three minute walk from Gate 1. If you drive, there is limited paid RTA parking at the venue. RTA taxis and Hala rides booked through the Careem app are easy alternatives.

Being in Bur Dubai also puts you a short walk from the old town around Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and the creek, so it is easy to grab dinner nearby before doors.

Who it suits

This is one for long-time Eysh Elly fans who want to see Bader Saleh live, for Arabic-speaking comedy lovers looking for a Friday night out, and for groups of friends who prefer a lively small room to a big theatre.
