Biswa Kalyan Rath Live 2027 in Dubai brings one of India’s most distinctive stand-up comedians to Sheikh Rashid Auditorium at the Indian High School in Oud Metha with a brand new show. Presented by Sublime Entertainment, it is a Saturday night set performed mainly in Hindi, with parts in English, and pitched at fans who know his work from YouTube and streaming as much as from the stage.
Doors open at 6pm and the show begins at 7pm. Because the material is new, this is not a greatest-hits evening: even if you have seen every special, you are hearing these jokes for the first time.
Who is Biswa Kalyan Rath?
Born in Rourkela, Odisha, Biswa studied biotechnology at IIT Kharagpur and worked in tech before comedy took over. He met Kanan Gill at an open mic in Bengaluru in 2013, and the two went on to create Pretentious Movie Reviews, the YouTube series that picked apart critically panned Bollywood films with deadpan seriousness. It went viral, and in 2014 Biswa left his job at Oracle to perform full time.
His stand-up career started properly in 2015 with the national tour Biswa In Your Face, followed by Biswa Mast Aadmi, which became his 2017 Amazon Prime Video special. That is where the “mast aadmi” nickname on this show’s listing comes from. He followed it with Sushi in 2019 and Mood Kharaab in 2023, another Prime Video release that at least one reviewer called his best special yet.
Away from the mic, he created and wrote the web series Laakhon Mein Ek, a drama about the pressure on Indian students preparing for engineering entrance exams, which drew on the world he knew from IIT. He also judged the first seasons of Comicstaan and has made guest appearances in shows such as Afsos and Hum Do Teen Chaar.
What to expect from the show
Biswa’s comedy tends to be slow-burning and observational. He builds long, winding stories that seem to be heading one way and then land somewhere completely unexpected, often with a quiet shrug rather than a big punchline. Fans of the movie reviews will recognise the same dry delivery, applied this time to everyday life rather than bad films.
Here are a few things worth knowing about this particular night:
- It is a brand new show, so the set list is fresh rather than a replay of Mood Kharaab or Sushi.
- The language is mainly Hindi, with English mixed in. A comfortable grasp of Hindi will help you catch the wordplay.
- Photography is not allowed once the show begins, which keeps the room focused and protects unreleased material.
- The age limit is 14 and above, so teenagers who follow him online can come along.
The venue: Sheikh Rashid Auditorium
Sheikh Rashid Auditorium sits inside the Indian High School campus on Oud Metha Road, and it has long been a regular stop for Indian comedians and theatre groups visiting Dubai. The layout is worth understanding before you choose a seat:
- VIP seats are allocated, so you know exactly where you will sit.
- Silver is reached from inside the auditorium but involves a few steps.
- Bronze is on the first floor and Balcony on the second, both reached only by stairs.
- All categories other than VIP are first come, first served.
There is no lift in the building. A ramp is available for people of determination, but they cannot be seated in the stair-access categories, so anyone with limited mobility should look at VIP or the ground-level areas.
Food and drink at the venue are paid, and outside food and drink are not allowed. Only popcorn and water bought on site can be taken into the auditorium itself; anything else needs to be eaten near the pantry area. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere at the venue.
Who it suits
If you grew up watching Pretentious Movie Reviews in a hostel room, or you have Mood Kharaab saved on your Prime Video list, this is the obvious night out. It also suits anyone who prefers thoughtful, story-led stand-up to rapid one-liners. Groups of friends, couples and families with teenagers over 14 will all find it easy to enjoy, provided they follow Hindi.
It is less suited to anyone who does not speak Hindi, as the bulk of the show is performed in it.
Getting there
There is no parking inside the venue and nearby RTA parking is limited, so the organisers recommend leaving the car at home. By Metro, get off at Oud Metha or Deira City Centre station. Bus routes 10, 27, 28, 66, C4, C18 and X28 also serve the area. Driving from Downtown Dubai along Oud Metha Road takes around 30 minutes, depending on traffic, and car-pooling with friends makes the parking hunt much easier.
If you have any technical issues with your ticket, the listing asks you to contact Platinumlist directly rather than the organiser. Tickets are non-refundable except in exceptional cases at the organiser’s discretion, and upgrades or seat swaps are not offered.
Make a night of it
Oud Metha is close to Karama and Bur Dubai, so there is no shortage of places for dinner before doors open. For more stand-up on the calendar, browse our comedy shows in Dubai, see what else is happening in January, or explore our wider guide to things to do in Dubai.

Is Biswa Kalyan Rath's Dubai show in Hindi or English?
