Dubai Design Week 2026 in Dubai returns to Dubai Design District (d3) for its 12th edition, running across six days between Tuesday 3 and Sunday 8 November 2026. The district fills with exhibitions, commissions, installations, talks, workshops and activations, and the organisers say the festival is open to visitors of all ages with no ticket needed to explore it. If you have ever wanted to see what the region’s designers, architects and makers are thinking about right now, this is the week to wander over to d3.
About Dubai Design Week at d3
Dubai Design Week is organised with d3 as its strategic partner and Dubai Culture as lead supporter, and it has grown into the region’s biggest celebration of creativity. The 2026 programme runs to more than 200 events spanning architecture, craft and design, much of it set out in the open spaces and buildings of the district.
What makes it special is how accessible it is. Plenty of design events feel like they are only for people in the industry. Here, the installations sit in public spaces, the workshops welcome beginners and the whole district is set up for wandering, touching and asking questions. You can build your own personalised programme on the Dubai Design Week website by picking the subjects that interest you, which is a handy way to tame a very full week.
What to Expect: Installations and Exhibitions
The 2026 line-up has a strong regional voice, with plenty of pieces that draw on life in the Gulf. A few highlights from the programme:
- Three Gardens and a Room by Nao Architects, the Urban Commissions winner, playing with vegetation, colour, shade and light.
- Taqleem by Rasha Saffarini, inspired by the Emirati practice of palm-tree trimming.
- Playing Field by Alter, which turns the game of Ludo into a shared play space.
- InBetween What Was and What Will Be by aestudio, built with reclaimed concrete rubble.
- Chatai 2.0, a timber structure by Nikken Sekkei and Sobokuya.
- Bayn by Palm and Palazzo, exploring privacy and social life in the Bahraini home.
Exhibitions add another layer. Abwab returns with a group show titled In Other Words, looking at how language is communicated, interpreted and remembered. The UAE Designer Exhibition takes the theme Inherited Futures, with support from Dubai Culture. An exhibition by L’Ecole, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, looks at Second Iron Age goldsmithing, a lovely historical thread running through a very contemporary week. Younger visitors are not forgotten either, with a children’s ceramics exhibition by Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children.
If you want to get hands-on, the Maker Space workshops are open to all ages and experience levels, though some sessions may need you to sign up in advance.
Downtown Design and the Marketplace
Two big moments sit alongside the main festival. Downtown Design, described as the Middle East’s leading fair for contemporary and high-quality design, runs 4–8 November at d3, and this year it includes a Memphis Milano exhibition. Unlike the wider festival, it is ticketed separately, with tickets sold through an external platform linked from the Dubai Design Week visit page.
Then there is the Marketplace on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November. It is a curated retail event bringing together brands and products from regional artisans, entrepreneurs and small businesses. If you like finding gifts that nobody else will have, plan your visit for that weekend.
Who It Is For
Designers, architects and students will find a week’s worth of inspiration, but Dubai Design Week genuinely works for everyone. Families can enjoy the playful installations and the children’s ceramics show, while couples and friends can make an evening of strolling between pieces. Anyone who loves interiors, craft or architecture will feel right at home. For more family ideas, browse our kids’ events in Dubai, and for more exhibitions see our art and culture listings.
