About this event

Nemr: Rampant Disorder 2026 in Abu Dhabi puts one of the Middle East’s best-known English-language comedians on the big stage at Etihad Arena on Yas Island on Sunday 22 November. Presented by MBC Group as part of the Wagef Stand Up Comedy Roadtour and Abu Dhabi Comedy Season, it is an early-evening show, with doors at 4:45pm and Nemr on stage at 6pm, so you are out in time for dinner on the island.

Who is Nemr?

Nemr Abou Nassar is a Lebanese-American stand-up who grew up in San Diego before moving back to Lebanon with his family. He is widely credited with pioneering the stand-up scene across the Middle East, performing in English at a time when there was very little live comedy in the region, and he hosted his own prime-time series, Stand Up Comedy Revolution, on LBCI in Lebanon.

His breakthrough international tour, No Bombing in Beirut, was billed as the first global comedy tour to stretch from the United States to London and the Middle East, with crowds of up to 5,000 a night. The special filmed from it aired on Showtime in the US and on CraveTV and The Movie Network in Canada. He has also appeared on CNN and on Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, sold out Cadogan Hall in London and played the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre with his show Love Isn’t The Answer, which compared life in San Diego and Lebanon.

What Rampant Disorder is about

Rampant Disorder is Nemr’s latest comedy special, a full stand-up set built around his take on the world around him. The show description promises his trademark mix of fearless humour, sharp observation and storytelling, turning everyday life, culture, relationships and “the chaos in between” into material. The tagline sums up the idea: everyday chaos becomes seriously funny.

If you have seen Nemr before, you will know he is a storyteller first. The laughs tend to build through long, detailed tales about family, growing up between two cultures and the small absurdities of life in this part of the world, rather than through rapid one-liners. That makes his shows especially relatable for Arab audiences and for expats who have spent years in the Gulf, though you do not need to share his background to follow along. No support acts are listed, so expect the evening to centre on Nemr himself.

A phone-locked arena show

This is a locked-phone performance. At security, phones, smartwatches and smart glasses are sealed in Yondr pouches, which you keep with you but cannot open until you reach a designated Phone Use Area. Anyone seen using a device during the show will be escorted out, and photography and filming are not allowed at any time.

Comedians increasingly use this system to protect new material and keep the room focused, and it changes the feel of a big arena gig: no glowing screens, no one filming the punchlines, just a crowd listening together. It also means the security line takes longer than usual, which is one reason the doors open a full 75 minutes before showtime.

The venue: Etihad Arena on Yas Island

Etihad Arena, on Yas Drive, is Abu Dhabi’s largest indoor multi-purpose venue, with room for around 18,000 people in its biggest configuration. It opened in 2021 and has become the capital’s main stage for touring concerts, fights and comedy, including the headline shows of Abu Dhabi Comedy Season. It sits on the waterfront next to Yas Bay, with its restaurants and promenade, a few minutes from Yas Marina Circuit and the island’s theme parks.

Payment throughout the arena is contactless only. Accessible seating is available for guests with disabilities or other access needs, but it has to be booked as an accessible ticket. By car from central Abu Dhabi, follow Sheikh Zayed Road and the signs to Yas Island and the arena. The nearest bus stop is Al Matar Al Qadeem, about 800 metres away, and most taxi drivers know the venue.
