Angad Ranyal Silly Papa Live 2027 in Dubai brings the Indian stand-up comedian’s fatherhood show to Live@Play in Al Quoz for its first Dubai performance. Presented by Sublime Entertainment in association with MTO37, it is billed as Angad’s Dubai debut, and it is performed mainly in Hindi, with parts in English.
Gates open at 7pm and the show starts at 7:30pm on Saturday 20 March 2027.
Who is Angad Singh Ranyal?
Angad Singh Ranyal has been part of Indian stand-up since its early boom years. He joined The East India Comedy collective in 2012, the same year it was founded by Sorabh Pant with Kunal Rao, Sapan Verma and Sahil Shah, and became one of its long-standing members as EIC helped reshape the Indian comedy scene.
His first Amazon Prime Video special, Kaafi Filmy, arrived in March 2019. Despite the title, it was less about films than about everyday annoyances: people who talk during shows, cheese popcorn in the cinema, road-trip movies, family life and the stereotypes he faces as a turbaned Sardar. A review on DeadAnt praised his low-key but expressive stage presence and his knack for making familiar topics feel fresh. The roughly 50-minute special also included a memorable story about a Delhi-to-Meerut car journey with a reckless driver, and his theory of the four categories of relationships: family, work, dating and friends.
He has since toured Mid-Life Ghabrahat across more than 50 shows. He has been ranked among India’s top 20 stand-up comedians by CNN-IBN and has performed more than 1,000 shows across India, Southeast Asia, North America and Australia. He has written for Comedy News Network and for award shows including IIFA and the Screen Awards, appeared as a mentor on the first season of Amazon’s One Mic Stand, and joined the IPL commentary line-up for #Hangout on JioCinema.
What Silly Papa is about
Silly Papa is Angad’s newest solo show, and fatherhood is at the heart of it. Based on how the show has been described on its international dates, expect:
- The highs and lows of being a dad, from proud moments to the daily chaos.
- The pressure of Father’s Day, and what it is like to be on the receiving end.
- Arguing with children’s logic, and usually losing.
- A look back at his younger party years, set against the reality of life now.
- Small social irritations of the kind he has always been good at picking apart.
Silly Papa has already been on the road abroad, including a first UK performance at Big Belly Comedy Club on London’s Southbank in January 2026, where it ran for about 90 minutes. Kaafi Filmy fans will recognise the same relatable, observational style, now pointed at parenting rather than cinema queues. In his Prime Video special he told a story about his own father’s playful, made-up answers to childhood questions, so the move into fatherhood material feels like a natural next chapter.
Who it suits
Silly Papa is an easy pick for parents, especially dads, who want to laugh at the everyday absurdities of raising children. It also suits long-time EIC fans, anyone who enjoyed Kaafi Filmy and groups of friends after a Saturday night out in Al Quoz. As the show is mainly in Hindi, it works best for audiences who are comfortable with the language. The age limit for the Dubai show is 14 and above, so older teenagers can come and hear their dad’s life explained from the stage.
