About this event

Aashish Solanki: Telling Lies 2026 in Dubai brings the Delhi comedian and Comicstaan winner back to the city with his stand-up special at Emirates Theatre, inside Emirates International School in Jumeirah, on Sunday 15 November. Performed in Hindi and presented by Rayna Events, the show runs for about an hour, with gates opening at 7pm and Aashish on stage at 8pm sharp.

Who is Aashish Solanki?

Aashish Solanki is a Delhi-based stand-up comedian who spent around five years working the comedy club circuit before his big break. That came in 2022, when he won Comicstaan Season 3, the stand-up talent show on Amazon Prime Video, with an average score of 9.1, ahead of runner-up Gurleen Pannu. He dedicated the trophy to his father, who had backed his unconventional choice of career.

Comicstaan, made by Only Much Louder for Amazon Prime Video, is a stand-up competition series searching for India’s next big comedian. Contestants perform across seven rounds, each in a different comedy genre, guided by mentor-judges, and both audience and judges score every set from 1 to 10. Season 3, hosted by Kusha Kapila, featured eight comedians, with mentors including Rahul Subramanian, Sapan Verma, Anu Menon, Rohan Joshi, Prashasti Singh and Kanan Gill. Winning it meant scoring consistently across all seven genres, not just in his own favoured style of clean observational comedy.

Since then he has become a regular on the touring circuit. His earlier solo show, Good Boy, Better Jokes, was built over two to three years and toured to around 30 shows in 21 cities. He has said he prefers sharing material through YouTube videos rather than packaging everything as a streaming special, so a live show is the place to hear a full hour of new material.

What Telling Lies is about

Telling Lies is billed as a stand-up special in which Aashish turns everyday situations, family dynamics and relatable life experiences into comedy. That is familiar ground for him: his comedy is known for being clean, observational and drawn from his own family’s behaviour.

The organisers promise sharp observations, effortless storytelling and his signature humour, and the title hints at the twist: plenty of laughs, a good deal of recognition, and perhaps a few truths disguised as very funny lies. Whether you have followed his comedy journey for years or are seeing him live for the first time, the hour is built to work for both.

The venue: Emirates Theatre, Jumeirah

Emirates Theatre is the auditorium at Emirates International School on Al Thanya Street in Jumeirah, which hosts touring comedy in several languages, from Arabic stand-up to Hindi specials like this one. Seating for this show is split into three categories:

  • VIP: front floor seats with the closest sightlines to the stage.
  • Gold (Floor): the main body of the floor, with clear views.
  • Silver (Balcony): raised seats with a panoramic view of the stage.

Accessibility is limited, so it is worth checking before you book. Only seats A1 to A6 in the VIP section are wheelchair accessible.

Getting there

By car, head south-east on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, continue onto Al Safa Street (D71) and turn right onto Al Thanya Street; the school is on your right. Most Dubai taxi drivers know the venue. Parking is not covered on the event page.

House rules for the night

The show is strictly for ages 15 and over, and a valid ticket is required for entry. Gates open at 7pm and the organisers ask guests to arrive at least 30 minutes before the 8pm start, which matters for an hour-long set where the first jokes set up the rest.

Outside food and drinks are not allowed, apart from sealed water bought on site. Smoking, vaping and alcohol are not permitted anywhere on the premises. Photography, filming and audio recording are banned once the show begins, and anyone breaking the rule, or behaving disruptively or while intoxicated, will be removed without a refund. The organiser is not liable for lost items or personal belongings, and ticketing or access issues are handled by Platinumlist.

The terms state that all sales are final, with no refunds, exchanges or upgrades, although the page also shows Platinumlist’s general resale banner, so check the current policy before relying on it.

Who it suits

Telling Lies is made for Hindi-speaking comedy fans, especially anyone who enjoyed Aashish on Comicstaan or through his online clips. Because his material is clean and family-centred, it works well for groups of friends, couples and families with teenagers aged 15 and over. With a 60-minute show that begins at 8pm, you will be out in good time for a late Sunday dinner in Jumeirah.
