About this event

The Monster Halloween Party turns Bla Bla by McGettigan’s in Dubai into Ghost Town for Halloween night, with The Tent at the JBR venue dressed in what the organisers call deadly décor. From 8pm on Saturday 31 October there are devilish DJs, roaming circus performers, surprises around the venue and prizes for the best costumes, and the night is scheduled to run until 3am.

If you want one big, fully themed Halloween party rather than a bar with a few cobwebs on the wall, this is the one McGettigan’s has built for the purpose.

Welcome to Ghost Town

The concept is a full venue takeover. Bla Bla becomes Ghost Town for the night, with eerie décor across The Tent and what the listing describes as Halloween chaos. Rather than a show you sit and watch, it is a space to wander through, with surprises tucked around the venue for anyone who keeps exploring.

The dress code is summed up in three words: dress to distress. There is no formal code, but costumes are very much the point, and the best ones are rewarded.

What is happening on the night

Devilish DJs

DJs soundtrack the night from start to finish. The organisers have not named them, so treat this as a party with a dance floor rather than a booking to follow a specific DJ.

Circus performers

Circus performers work the crowd through the evening, adding a theatrical element that sets this apart from a standard club night. Keep an eye out as you move between the bar, the stalls and the dance floor.

The costume competition

Prizes go to the best costumes. To be considered, have your photo taken at the venue during the night. No formal competition rules or categories have been published, so anything from classic horror to an elaborate group theme has a chance. Arriving earlier in the evening gives you more time to be spotted and photographed before the crowd builds.

Surprises around the venue

The organisers promise surprises throughout Ghost Town without saying what they are. Part of the fun is that you will not know until you find them.

Entry rules and planning your night

  • 21+ only: entry is exclusive to guests aged 21 and above, and a strict door policy is enforced. Bring photo ID.
  • No re-entry: once you leave, you cannot come back in, which matters on a night that runs until 3am.
  • Tickets at the door: tickets are listed as available on the door as well as online.
  • Change of plans: you can exchange your ticket with another fan if you cannot go.

Planning your night

With seven hours between the 8pm start and the 3am finish, it helps to have a loose plan. Because there is no re-entry, think of the night as one continuous stay: eat from the food stalls on site rather than heading out for dinner, and agree a meeting point inside The Tent in case your group gets separated in the crowd. If you are serious about the costume prize, get your photo taken early while your make-up is still fresh and the room is quieter. After that, the rest of the night is yours for the DJs, the performers and the dance floor.

The Tent at Bla Bla by McGettigan’s

Bla Bla is in JBR, close to Dubai Marina, and the party takes place in The Tent. Seating is unreserved floor seating, so if your group wants a base for the night, arrive together. Food and drink stalls run throughout, alcohol is served, and disability access is available. Cameras are allowed, which is handy for the costume competition, and smoking is permitted.

Who it suits

  • Halloween devotees who plan their costume weeks in advance and want somewhere to show it off.
  • Groups of friends after one big themed night out rather than a crawl between bars.
  • Anyone who enjoys immersive parties, with décor and performers that make the venue feel transformed.
  • JBR and Marina residents who want a late Halloween party close to home.

With the strict 21+ policy, this is not one for families. Our kids’ events in Dubai page lists Halloween activities for children instead.

Getting to Bla Bla in JBR

By car, take Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) and the exit towards King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street (D94). Continue to Exit 29, then follow the signs for the South Beach Entrance via Al Sayorah Street, going straight through the roundabout. Parking is available.

By public transport, take the T1 tram to Jumeirah Beach Residence 2 station and walk a short distance. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the sensible way home, given the 3am finish and the bar on site.

If you are in Dubai for the whole Halloween weekend, Bla Bla also hosts Bongo’s Bingo Halloween Special in The Tent the night before. For more ideas, browse our Dubai nightlife listings, things to do this weekend and things to do in October.
