Good to know

Before you go out

Bring your ID

You must be 21 or over to enter clubs, and venues check ID at the door.

Check the dress code

Most clubs expect smart-casual: no sportswear, flip-flops or beachwear at night.

Get on the guest list

Guest lists and ladies’ nights can mean free or cheaper entry, check the venue’s socials.

Never drink and drive

The UAE has zero tolerance, use a taxi, ride-hailing app or the metro.

Our guide to nightlife in Dubai

Nightlife in Dubai is bigger and more varied than most first-time visitors expect, from sunset sessions at beach clubs to rooftop cocktail bars, open-air superclubs and laid-back pubs where the quiz is the main event. We go out across the city every week, and this is how we’d explain it to a friend landing for the first time: where to head, what to wear, the rules that matter and how to get home safely at the end of the night.

How a night out in Dubai works

Most nights out here are built around a venue rather than a street. Unlike cities where you hop from bar to bar on foot, Dubai’s clubs and lounges are usually inside hotels, resorts or purpose-built leisure developments, so you tend to pick one or two places and stay. Evenings start late: dinner runs until ten or later, bars fill up after that, and clubs rarely get busy before midnight. Since the UAE moved to a Saturday and Sunday weekend, Friday and Saturday are the big nights, with Thursday close behind, and plenty of venues run strong midweek parties too.

Because so much happens in hotels and private venues, the line-up changes constantly. Resident DJs, international guest sets and pop-up parties are announced on venue social channels and ticketing sites a week or two ahead, which is why we keep our what’s on calendar and weekend picks updated with confirmed dates.

Where to go: Dubai’s nightlife areas

  • Dubai Marina and JBR: relaxed and walkable by Dubai standards, with sports bars, terraces, rooftop lounges and beachfront spots. A good choice for groups who want options close together.
  • Palm Jumeirah: resort territory, home to many of the city’s best-known beach clubs and some polished hotel bars with skyline views across the water.
  • Dubai Harbour: a newer waterfront hub where large beach-club and open-air party brands draw big international DJs.
  • Downtown Dubai: rooftop and high-floor bars with Burj Khalifa views, plus stylish lounges that work as well for a first drink as a late one.
  • DIFC: the financial district turns into a cocktail and supper-club scene after work, with a smarter crowd and a strong restaurant-to-bar culture.
  • Meydan and Al Quoz: open-air venues and warehouse-style spaces where you’ll find some of the city’s larger dance music nights, especially in the cooler months.

Beach clubs, superclubs, bars and lounges

It helps to know what kind of night you want. Beach clubs usually run from late morning into the evening, with day beds, pools, a DJ and a dress code that relaxes by day and smartens up as the sun sets. Superclubs and open-air venues are about the music and production, with ticketed events, international headliners and late finishes. Hotel bars and rooftop lounges suit conversation, cocktails and views. Pubs and live music bars are the easy, low-key option, often with big-screen sport and a friendly regular crowd. Many nights blend two of these, so a dinner booking that turns into a party is very much a Dubai thing; our dinner and brunch guide covers the places that do it well.

Ladies’ nights and guest lists

Ladies’ nights are a long-running tradition here. Bars and restaurants offer women set drinks or discounted food on a particular evening of the week, and the details change often, so always check the venue’s latest terms. Guest lists work in a similar way at clubs: signing up in advance through the venue or promoter can mean free or reduced entry before a certain time. Table bookings normally come with a minimum spend, so ask what that includes before you commit.

The rules that matter: age, ID and alcohol

You must be 21 or over to drink alcohol in Dubai, and licensed venues will ask for identification at the door. Bring an original passport or Emirates ID; photos on your phone are often refused. Visitors can drink in licensed venues such as hotel bars, clubs and many restaurants. Residents who want to buy alcohol from licensed shops to drink at home in Dubai need a personal liquor licence, which has been free since 2023. Drinking in public places, being drunk in public and any drug use are offences, and the UAE has a zero tolerance approach to drink driving.

Dress codes and etiquette

Most clubs and smart bars ask for smart casual at night. That usually means no sportswear, flip-flops, beachwear or caps, and some venues also turn away shorts for men. Beach clubs are more relaxed by day, but cover up when you leave the beach. Be respectful of others, keep public displays of affection low-key and avoid filming people without their permission. During Ramadan the pace changes: many venues tone down music and entertainment, so check before you plan a big night.

Getting home, and nights out in Abu Dhabi

Taxis are easy to find outside hotels and venues, and ride-hailing apps work across the city. The Dubai Metro is useful early in the evening, but it doesn’t run all night, so plan your ride home before you go out. In Abu Dhabi the nightlife is smaller and more spread out, centred on Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, Al Maryah Island and the hotel bars along the coast, with big concerts and race weekends adding extra energy. Our Abu Dhabi guide and concerts page are good places to start. Sharjah is alcohol-free, so plan accordingly if you’re staying there.

When the big nights happen

Dubai’s nightlife follows the weather. The season starts in October, when open-air venues reopen and international DJs return, and it peaks between November and March with the biggest headline shows, festival weekends and New Year’s Eve. Spring brings the last big outdoor parties before the heat arrives, and from June to September the action moves indoors to hotel clubs, rooftop lounges and pool parties that start after sunset.

Midweek is quieter but not empty: plenty of venues run weekly residencies, open-decks nights and ladies’ nights from Monday to Wednesday. Use the When filter at the top of this page to see what is on tonight, this weekend or next month, the Type filter to jump straight to beach parties, themed nights or big-name DJ shows, and the Price filter to find free and lower-cost nights.

FAQ

Dubai nightlife: frequently asked questions

What nightlife events are coming up?

We currently list 58 upcoming nightlife events. The next ones are Live & Kicking: ABBA-Esque Party 2026 in Dubai (Mon 2 Nov), Cavo’s Global Groove Presents DJ Deeza 2026 in Dubai (Tue 3 Nov), Pataakha Pre-Diwali Party 2026 in Dubai (Wed 4 Nov) and Techno Rooms 2026 in Dubai (Thu 5 Nov). The list above updates daily and finished events drop off automatically.

What is the legal drinking age in Dubai?

The legal drinking age in the UAE is 21. Clubs, bars and beach clubs check ID at the door, so bring your passport or Emirates ID even if you look older.

How much does it cost to get into a club in Dubai?

Entry ranges from free on guest-list and open-decks nights to AED 150–300 for most headline DJ nights, and more for the biggest names. Tables come with a minimum spend. Every event above shows its starting price, and you can use the Price filter to see free or under-AED-100 nights only.

What time do clubs close in Dubai?

Most club nights in our listings start between 9pm and 11pm and finish at 3am or 4am. Beach clubs and day parties often start in the afternoon and wind down by midnight. Each event page shows the exact door and finish times.

Which areas of Dubai have the best nightlife?

Dubai Marina and JBR, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Harbour, Downtown Dubai and DIFC are the main nightlife areas. The Marina and JBR suit relaxed bar-hopping, the Palm and Dubai Harbour are known for beach clubs and big DJ parties, Downtown has rooftop bars with Burj Khalifa views, and DIFC is the place for cocktail bars and supper clubs. Open-air venues around Meydan and Al Quoz host many of the larger dance music nights in the cooler months.

Are open-air clubs open all year?

No. Most open-air clubs and garden venues run in the cooler months, roughly October to April, and close or move indoors in summer. Check each venue before you go.

What is the dress code for clubs in Dubai?

Most clubs and smart bars ask for smart casual at night: no sportswear, flip-flops, beachwear or caps, and some venues refuse men in shorts. Beach clubs are more relaxed during the day, but cover up when you leave the beach. If you are unsure, check the venue’s booking page or social media before you go.

Where can I find ladies’ nights in Dubai?

Ladies’ nights and girls-only nights are grouped in their own section above when they are listed. Many bars also run weekly ladies’ nights that change often, so check the venue’s own page for the current offer.

How do I get home after a night out in Dubai?

Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the easiest way home and are easy to find outside hotels and venues. The Dubai Metro is handy earlier in the evening but does not run all night, so check the last service. The UAE has zero tolerance for drink driving, so never drive after drinking.

Can I see nightlife events that have already happened?

Yes. Finished events are hidden from the main list so you only see what you can still book. Use the past nightlife events link at the bottom of the listings to see events from the last 12 months.

How do I list my club night on ThingsToDo.ae?

Use our event submission form and choose “Nightlife”. Listings are free, and we check every event before it goes live.
