Our guide to things to do today in Dubai

Looking for things to do today in Dubai with no plan and not much notice? You are in good company. Dubai is one of the easiest cities in the world for a last-minute day out, because so much of it runs on digital tickets, late opening hours and places you can simply turn up to. The live listings above show what is happening across the UAE today, and below we share how we decide what to do when the day is already under way, from checking the heat to finding the free spots that never need a booking.

Start with the clock and the weather

Before we choose anything, we look at two things: what time it is and how hot it is outside. From roughly May to September, daytime temperatures regularly pass 40°C, so outdoor plans really belong to the early morning or after sunset. In those months we save the middle of the day, roughly 11am to 4pm, for malls, museums, cinemas and indoor attractions, and head outdoors only once the sun drops. From late October to April the picture flips: mornings and evenings are mild, often in the low to mid twenties, and a beach walk or a terrace lunch works at almost any hour. Winter mornings can bring fog that slows traffic, so a later start is no bad thing.

What you can still book on the day

Plenty of plans can be booked from your phone on the morning itself. Most big attractions sell timed tickets online right up until the slot, and quieter weekdays usually still have space. Cinemas, bowling, indoor skydiving, escape rooms and many workshops take same-day bookings too. Concerts and comedy nights are trickier: a headline show at a major arena may be sold out, but smaller gigs, open mic nights and community events often release tickets until the doors open. Our tips for booking today:

Free plans you can walk straight into

Some of our favourite days in Dubai need no ticket at all. These are the places we suggest when you just want to get out of the house within the hour:

Matching the plan to the time of day

If it is still morning, we go for things that are best before the crowds: a beach walk, breakfast in Jumeirah, or an attraction that opens early. Early afternoon suits indoor plans and a long lunch. Late afternoon is the sweet spot for Global Village in the cooler months, the souks, or an abra ride as the light softens. After dark, Dubai really comes alive, with rooftop bars, live music, night markets and late shows. Our nightlife page is the place to look once the sun has gone down, and our dinner and brunch listings help when you need a table tonight.

Getting there quickly

When time is short, the Dubai Metro is often faster than driving, especially to Downtown, where the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station links to the mall by a covered walkway. The Dubai Tram serves JBR and the Marina, and taxis or ride-hailing apps are easy to find almost everywhere. Traffic builds on Sheikh Zayed Road at rush hour and on Friday and Saturday evenings, so we add extra time for anything that starts at a fixed hour. Parking at the big malls is plentiful, though it fills up on weekend evenings.

Today with children

Last-minute family plans work best indoors in summer. Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates and the bigger community malls all have play areas, aquariums or entertainment zones you can book on the spot, and many hotels sell day passes for the pool. In winter, a park or beach is hard to beat. Our kids and family events page lists workshops, shows and activities that still have space, and attractions covers the theme parks and play centres you can visit any day.

A few things that can change your plans

Opening hours shift during Ramadan, when many attractions open later and stay open late into the night, and on public holidays, when popular places get busy. Friday midday prayers can also affect opening times at some venues. If your heart is set on one plan, check the official page before you go. And if today does not work out, our things to do tomorrow page gives you a head start, or browse everything on across the UAE.

FAQ

Things to do today: your questions answered

What is on in Dubai today?

We list 6 events in Dubai and the UAE today, including Diwali Community Celebration in Al Furjan 2026 (1 Nov), Pluma Circus Show 2026 in Dubai (2 Nov), Kids Pizza Making Class 2026 in Dubai (2 Nov). Tickets start from AED 95. Every listing links to the official ticket page.

What free things can I do in Dubai today without booking?

You can walk straight into plenty of free plans in Dubai today, including the Dubai Fountain shows outside Dubai Mall every evening, public beaches such as Kite Beach and JBR, and the lanes of the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz usually has free gallery exhibitions, and parks such as Zabeel Park are open daily. An abra across Dubai Creek costs only a few dirhams.

Can I still get same-day tickets for attractions in Dubai?

Yes, most major Dubai attractions sell timed tickets online until shortly before each slot, so same-day booking is usually possible, especially on weekdays. Sunset slots at observation decks such as Burj Khalifa sell out fastest. Cinemas, bowling, escape rooms and indoor activities also take same-day bookings. Always buy from the attraction’s own website or an official seller rather than resale offers on social media.

Is it too hot to go outside in Dubai today?

It depends on the month: from roughly May to September, Dubai’s daytime temperatures regularly pass 40°C, so outdoor plans work best before about 10am or after sunset. From late October to April, days are usually in the mid twenties and evenings are cooler, making beaches, parks and outdoor markets comfortable for most of the day. Carry water and sun protection in any season.

What can I do in Dubai tonight at the last minute?

For a last-minute night in Dubai, try the free Dubai Fountain shows in Downtown, a walk along Dubai Marina or The Walk at JBR, or dinner by the creek at Al Seef. Smaller gigs, comedy open mics and rooftop bars often have space on the night, and Global Village stays open late in the cooler months. Our nightlife page lists tonight’s options.

What indoor things can I do in Dubai today with kids?

Dubai has many indoor family options you can book on the day, such as the Dubai Aquarium and ice rink at Dubai Mall, Ski Dubai at Mall of the Emirates, and the play and entertainment zones found in most large malls. Many hotels also sell pool day passes. These are ideal in summer, when outdoor play is best kept to early mornings and evenings.

Do opening hours in Dubai change during Ramadan?

Yes, during Ramadan many Dubai attractions, malls and restaurants change their hours, often opening later in the day and staying open until late at night. Eating and drinking in public during daylight hours is still best avoided out of respect, though many restaurants serve customers discreetly. Ramadan dates move each year with the lunar calendar, so check the venue’s official page for current timings before going.
