Our guide to comedy shows in Dubai

Comedy shows in Dubai have grown from the odd touring headliner into a scene with something on most weeks: arena specials from global stars, club nights in hotel function rooms, Arabic and Hindi stand-up, improv troupes and open mic evenings where new local voices try out their first five minutes. Because the city is home to people from nearly every country, the line-ups are unusually international, and you can hear jokes in English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog, Russian, French and more within the same month.

This page lists every comedy night we know about in Dubai and across the UAE, with links to official ticket sellers. Use the filters at the top of the page (When, Type, Emirate and Price) to narrow the listings, and do not worry about stale dates: finished events drop off automatically. Here is our practical guide to picking the right show and enjoying it.

The comedy calendar through the year

Like most live entertainment here, comedy follows the cooler weather. The busiest months are usually October to April, when international tours pass through the Gulf and venues schedule their strongest line-ups. Weekends are the peak, with Friday and Saturday nights carrying most of the big shows, but weekly club nights fill the calendar midweek too.

The Dubai Comedy Festival is traditionally the biggest moment on the calendar, bringing dozens of comedians and family-friendly acts to venues such as Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai Opera and the New Covent Garden Theatre at Mall of the Emirates over about ten days. Its timing has moved between editions, so check our listings for the latest dates. Regular club nights carry on through the summer indoors, but big-name tours are rarer in July and August. During Ramadan, which moves each year with the lunar calendar, the comedy programme is usually much lighter.

Types of comedy nights you will find

  • Arena and theatre specials: headline stand-ups touring a new hour, usually at Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai Opera or Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Expect a polished show, assigned seats and higher ticket prices.
  • Weekly comedy clubs: promoters such as The Laughter Factory and MadCat Comedy run regular nights, typically with several comedians on one bill. These are relaxed evenings, often in hotel venues or speakeasy-style bars with food and drinks available.
  • Language and community nights: Arabic stand-up from Egyptian, Lebanese, Saudi and Moroccan comics, Hindi and Urdu shows, Filipino comedy tours and Russian and French-language specials all draw big, enthusiastic crowds. Check the language on the listing before you book.
  • Improv and sketch: local improv groups perform games and scenes built on audience suggestions, a fun choice if you like interactive nights.
  • Open mics: low-cost or free evenings in bars and cafés where new and established local comics test material. The quality varies, which is half the fun.

Where the laughs happen

Downtown Dubai and City Walk host the big productions, with Dubai Opera’s elegant auditorium and Coca-Cola Arena’s large hall both regular comedy stages. Mall of the Emirates has the New Covent Garden Theatre, a convenient choice because you can shop or eat before the show and the Mall of the Emirates Metro station on the Red Line is right next door.

Club nights move around hotels in areas such as Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Al Barsha and Downtown, so always check the venue on the ticket rather than assuming. Open mics tend to pop up in Al Quoz, Jumeirah and the Marina, often midweek. Larger Arabic and South Asian shows sometimes use Dubai World Trade Centre or hotel ballrooms with big seated layouts.

Age ratings, content and house rules

Comedy is the one category where we always recommend reading the small print. Many stand-up shows have an age restriction, commonly 16+, 18+ or 21+ depending on the material and whether the venue serves alcohol, and ID can be checked at the door, so bring your Emirates ID or passport. Family-friendly acts, such as visual comedy, clowning or physical theatre, are clearly labelled and are a lovely way to introduce children to live comedy; see our things to do with kids page for more.

Comedians performing in the UAE are aware of local laws and cultural sensitivities, and audiences are expected to be respectful too. Most shows do not allow filming or recording, and some ask you to lock your phone in a pouch on entry, so arrive in time to follow the venue’s process.

How to choose your seat and your night

  • Sit near the front only if you are happy to be involved. Comedians love chatting to the first few rows, especially at club nights.
  • Pick the format to suit your group. A big-name special is a treat for fans; a club night with several comics is better if your group has mixed tastes.
  • Check the start time and running order. Club nights often start later than advertised and may have an interval, while arena shows usually have a support act first.
  • Buy from official sellers. Our listings link to the organiser or an authorised ticketing partner, which protects you if a show is moved or cancelled.
  • Plan the journey home. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are easy after most shows, but expect queues at arena exits.

Etiquette, dress and accessibility

A comedy night is relaxed, and there is rarely a formal dress code. Smart-casual is right for hotel clubs and theatres, and you may want to dress up a little for Dubai Opera. Venues are air-conditioned and can feel chilly, so a light layer is useful.

The golden rules are simple: switch your phone to silent, keep side conversations for the interval and leave the heckling to the professionals. If a comedian talks to you, play along good-naturedly and keep answers short. At club nights with table service, order before the show starts or during breaks so you do not interrupt a set. If you need step-free access or accessible seating, contact the venue or ticket seller before booking, as hotel function rooms vary.

Comedy in Abu Dhabi and the other emirates

Abu Dhabi gets many of the same touring headliners as Dubai, typically at Etihad Arena on Yas Island or at large hotel venues, and some tours play both cities on consecutive nights, which can help if one date sells out. The capital also has occasional club nights and Arabic comedy evenings; our guide to things to do in Abu Dhabi has more ideas for the weekend.

Sharjah hosts fewer stand-up nights and its venues follow the emirate’s stricter rules, including no alcohol, so shows there tend to be family-oriented or community-focused. In the northern emirates, comedy is more occasional and usually tied to hotels or community groups.

Pair your show with a night out

Comedy works well as part of a bigger evening. Book an early dinner near the venue from our dinner and brunch ideas, then carry on with our nightlife picks afterwards. If you love live entertainment, our concerts in Dubai and shows and theatre pages are worth a browse.

FAQ

Comedy shows in Dubai: common questions

What comedy shows are coming up?

We currently list 40 upcoming comedy shows. The next ones are Mo Amer Live 2026 in Abu Dhabi (Fri 6 Nov), Laughter Lounge Duetto: Achrafi and Fadil 2026 in Dubai (Fri 6 Nov), Olga Malashchenko Stand-Up 2026 in Dubai (Sat 7 Nov) and Maz Jobrani Live 2026 in Abu Dhabi (Sat 7 Nov). The list above updates daily and finished events drop off automatically.

When is the Dubai Comedy Festival held?

The Dubai Comedy Festival is traditionally the city’s biggest annual comedy event, running for about ten days with dozens of comedians and family-friendly acts. Its timing has moved between editions, with recent ones held in the autumn, so check the current dates before planning. Shows typically take place across several venues, including Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai Opera and the New Covent Garden Theatre at Mall of the Emirates.

What is the age limit for stand-up comedy shows in Dubai?

Most stand-up comedy shows in Dubai have an age limit, commonly 16+, 18+ or 21+, depending on the material and whether the venue serves alcohol. The exact rule is printed on the official event page, and ID can be checked at the door, so bring an Emirates ID or passport. Family-friendly acts, such as visual comedy and clowning, are clearly labelled and welcome children.

Are there Arabic and Hindi comedy shows in Dubai?

Dubai has a busy calendar of Arabic, Hindi and Urdu comedy, with touring stars regularly playing Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai Opera and Dubai World Trade Centre, and community nights held in hotel venues. Filipino, Russian, French and other language shows also visit. Each listing states the language of the show, so it is worth checking before you book if you are going with friends who do not share that language.

How do I book comedy tickets in Dubai, and how much do they cost?

Book through the organiser or the authorised ticketing partner linked on each listing, which protects you if a show is moved or cancelled. Prices depend on the format: open mics are often free or low-cost, weekly club nights are mid-range, and arena specials from famous names cost the most, with prices rising for front seats. Use the Price filter at the top of this page to compare, and book big names early.

Where can I find open mic comedy nights in Dubai?

Open mic comedy nights in Dubai usually take place midweek in bars, cafés and small venues, often in Al Quoz, Jumeirah and Dubai Marina, where new and established local comics try out material. They are low-cost or free, informal and a great way to discover local talent. Line-ups and locations change often, so follow the organisers or check our things to do this weekend page for nights on soon.

Can I film a comedy show in Dubai on my phone?

Filming or recording a comedy show in Dubai is almost never allowed, because comedians protect new material and the UAE has strict privacy laws about recording people without consent. Some shows go further and ask you to seal your phone in a locked pouch on entry, so arrive early to follow the venue’s process. Photos before the show starts are usually fine, but check the rules on your ticket.

What should I wear to a comedy show in Dubai?

There is rarely a formal dress code at comedy shows in Dubai. Smart-casual clothes suit hotel comedy clubs and theatres, and you might dress up a little for Dubai Opera. Venues are air-conditioned and can feel cold, so a light layer is a good idea. Some hotel venues apply their own evening dress rules, such as no beachwear, so check the event page if you are unsure.

Are there comedy shows in Abu Dhabi?

Abu Dhabi hosts many of the same touring comedians as Dubai, typically at Etihad Arena on Yas Island or at large hotel venues, and some tours play both cities on consecutive nights. The capital also has occasional club nights and Arabic comedy evenings. If a Dubai date sells out, the Abu Dhabi show is roughly a 90-minute drive away. See our Abu Dhabi guide for making a weekend of it.

Is it a good idea to sit in the front row at a Dubai comedy club?

Sitting in the front row at a Dubai comedy club is great if you enjoy being part of the show, because comedians often chat to the first few rows. If you would rather watch quietly, choose seats further back or at the side. Club nights, such as those run by The Laughter Factory, usually have several comedians on one bill, so expect plenty of crowd work across the evening.
